☄ First Impressions

♚ VISUAL: Large, redheaded, and Scottish. Jamie is approximately 6'4", with russet-gold hair (it's literally described in canon as being hair a lot of women would envy), and dark blue eyes, slightly slanted, almost like a cat. He's described as looking a lot like a "Viking", whatever that means - very striking appearance, and he can be very intimidating when he wants to be, considering he's used to being the biggest person in the room.

Jamie has several prominent scars and injuries, the most obvious of which in the normal course of events is his right hand, which was at one time smashed with a hammer. This injury was set pretty well, but he never regained full range of motion with it, the hand is pretty scarred up, and the ring finger is stiff and sticks out at an odd angle. It's most obvious when he tries to write - he's actually left-handed, but was taught to write with his right hand, and he's not very good at it. It's a slow, laborious process that he avoids doing in front of other people if he can help it.

If your character ever sees Jamie without his shirt, the scars are even more impressive. Here is a visual to give you an idea (obvious warning for scarification here). By the time Jamie arrives in Savrou, though, it's even worse than that, because he's been flogged at least once more. Basically, his back is one big mass of scar tissue, the result of numerous floggings over the course of his life. And if your character ever happens to see him without pants, he's also got a very impressive scar on his left leg, basically all down his thigh.
♚ FASHION: Jamie is an 18th century man, and as such, wears old timey garb. In Savrou, he will likely NOT be wearing a tartan (or great kilt), because he no longer owns one and it's been illegal for a number of years in his world. This is the sort of thing he wears most days. If he's dressing up, he might look something like this.
♚ DEMEANOUR: Jamie is a soldier, a leader of men, a chief, and despite numerous attempts to humiliate him and lay him low, he still carries himself as such - he stands tall and straight, looks people in the eye, moves with a certain amount of ease and grace and inborn pride in himself. He carries no weapons, or at least won't arrive with any in Savrou, but still walks like he does.
♚ AURAL: VERRA SCOTS. No, really, Jamie speaks with a thick Highland brogue, which some characters may legitimately find difficult to understand. This clip is a good example of how Jamie speaks. Beyond simply his accent, however, Jamie's grammar, syntax and sentence structure are pretty archaic. Basically, even if he didn't have the accent, he'd still sound pretty "old-timey", not using a lot of words that are common today but didn't exist back then, modern slang is absent from his speech, etc. As for languages, Jamie is a born polyglot - he was raised bilingual (Gaelic and English), and he's also fluent in French, German, Latin, Greek, probably knows some Spanish, etc. He's got a fantastic ear for languages and can pick them up very easily.
♚ OLFACTORY: Jamie has pretty good hygiene for an 18th century guy, but he doesn't wear perfumes or other scents, and he does a lot of manual labor, so he'll often smell like sweat and whatever environment he's been in recently.
♚ MENTAL INFORMATION: None to speak of, as Jamie is a baseline human. See below for potential content warnings for telepaths who would want to poke into his head.
♚ MAGICAL INFORMATION: I doubt there would be much for a magical being to sense, given that Jamie is a baseline human.
♚ OTHER: There are a few minor anachronisms about Jamie that a very observant character familiar with 18th century standards of health and hygiene might notice. In general, for a man of his age, situation, and era, Jamie is very well preserved. Things that modern people take for granted - like brushing your teeth, eating fresh fruits and veggies regularly, and washing wounds, are not necessarily normal practice in the 18th century, but Jamie does them. So he's still got all his teeth (and they're very nice teeth!), he's got no signs of scurvy or malnutrition, and he's still got all his limbs. Again, most modern characters will probably see nothing strange about any of this, but if you're playing, for instance, a time-traveling Doctor, it might be worth noting.

♚ BACKTAGGING: I'm open to whatever - I'll backtag a thread as long as necessary to finish it, though I also reserve the right to drop things that are getting to be more than a few weeks old and aren't plot or character relevant.
♚ FOURTHWALLING: If your character would be specifically familiar with Outlander, I'd ask that you speak with me before it comes up in tags. More general fourthwalling, such as suggesting that Jamie is from a Highland romance novel, or ~spoiling him for the future~, is totally fine.
♚ PHYSICAL AFFECTION: OOCly, I'm fine with characters attempting to be physically affectionate with him - of course, ICly, he might not react too well. If it's a good friend, he'll be willing to give a man a slap on the back or a woman a quick hug, but from a stranger - women will likely be gently pushed away, and men, well - see below for warnings regarding men coming onto him romantically or sexually.
♚ PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: OOCly, I am fine with fight scenes and violence. Jamie is not a naturally violent man, but he does know how to defend himself if need be (against baseline humans, anyway). However, if you think a thread is going to threaten serious injury to Jamie, let me know so we can talk it out.
♚ RELATIONSHIPS: Shipping, in general, is a no-go with Jamie. It's not completely outside the realm of possibility that he could be talked into a one-night stand with a woman at some point, but he would make it very clear to the lady in question that it was just sex, and at no point would romance enter into things. I am totally fine with women flirting with him, however. Jamie is very attractive and is used to having a certain amount of attention like that. He'll just... turn you down gently, sorry ladies. See below for warnings pertaining to men.

☄ Permissions

♚ FIRST THING: Jamie is an old-timey dude, and as such, may have some ideas about how the world works that are no longer considered politically correct. He's generally a pretty open-minded guy, but he's still a bit of a chauvinist, who thinks, for instance, that women generally need to be protected. And poor people. And minorities. He thinks that it's okay for a father to spank his children. He has some rather different ideas about sexuality than most modern people do. That kind of thing. These are things that might come up in the normal course of conversation.
♚ SECOND THING: Jamie is aware that there are men who like to have sex with other men, and he doesn't care about that, in a general sense. However! Jamie is a rape survivor, and he has some issues around men being sexually aggressive and/or romantic toward him. He threatened to kill the last man who made romantic overtures toward him, so while I am not opposed to men flirting with Jamie, I want people to be aware that this is a thing that can happen. (In his defense, he's still friends with the guy he threatened to kill.)
♚ THIRD THING: Jamie has some very nasty things in his backstory - he's been homeless, imprisoned, tortured, flogged, and raped. These are not necessarily likely to come up in the course of normal conversation, especially not the rape, but they could. Especially if you play a telepath who might want to poke around in Jamie's head, I want to make people aware of these things.
