Personality: Tough, stubborn, and temperamental, Jamie is, at first glance, the epitome of a proud, hotheaded Scotsman. And he is certainly all these things, and more. Born into a very old clan in a time when Scotland was occupied by a hostile power, Jamie was raised to a very specific system of pride and honor - and when those things get offended, Jamie is liable to get very angry, indeed. He's a stereotypical redhead at times, who can be brash and impulsive, a man who would rather settle disputes with his fists or a sword than talk them out, though some of that is being tempered as he grows older and has more experiences.
On the other hand, Jamie is still quite young and has a certain pleasure in life - he enjoys the outdoors, he enjoys a good meal, good whiskey, an evening spent in the company of jovial men. He's got a clever mind, and a wicked sense of humor when he chooses to, and can be incredibly gregarious and charming - don't think he's not aware of his own good looks, or what his smile can do to a person.
But there's more to him than a mercurial young man.
Powers/Abilities/Talents: Jamie is a baseline human, so he doesn't have any supernatural, magical or otherworldly powers. But he's certainly not lacking in skills! Here are a few of them:
- Combat: Jamie has spent several years with the French army, and as an outlaw, so he has a lot of experience in a fight. He's good with both swords and guns, and even his fists in a pinch.
- Horsemanship: Not only is he an excellent rider, but he's good with horses in general, and knows how to break them (train them to a bridle).
- Education: Jamie received what was considered the best education available in the mid-18th century. He's fluent in at least three languages (Gaelic, English, French), reads and writes Greek and Latin, and likely has a smattering of at least a couple others, most probably Spanish and German. He's also incredibly knowledgeable about history, geography, politics, mathematics, western philosophy and religion (he's a good Catholic boy).
- Landowner: As a laird (landowner or landlord), Jamie also has a lot of practical knowledge of how to run a farm. He can work with animals, make repairs and maintain farm equipment, he can do accounting, etc etc.
- Future knowledge: While most of Jamie's knowledge is dated to 1743, he does have some information about things that will happen in the future. His wife is actually a time traveler of sorts, from the mid-20th century, and she has told him a bit about things that will happen over the next 200 years, including WWI and WWII, and some technological advancements, like airplanes.
