warnings/disclaimers/notes
Mar. 21st, 2016 10:40 pmJamie here is a giant pile of Issues so I have a few things to go over.
TRIGGER WARNINGS: Jamie's backstory includes a lot of really nasty stuff, including torture and rape and PTSD. I will not bring these up directly in a thread unless we've discussed it beforehand OOCly, but I do want people who tag him to be aware that these exist and if they want to be nosy or otherwise learn more about him, it may become pertinent.
Offensive topics: Jamie is from the year 1743, so he has a lot of ideas about things that, at best, will seem very retrograde to more modern sensibilities and may sometimes be outright offensive, especially when it comes to topics like women and women's rights, sex and sexuality, race and class. He's generally a pretty decent, open-minded guy, but unlike the above trigger warnings, I can't guarantee that it won't come up in the course of regular conversation. I will, however, always be available to talk OOCly about stuff and if you're ever uncomfortable with anything Jamie says in an IC context, you can always come to me. I won't be offended if you need to stop tagging me for any reason.
Scars: For someone so young, Jamie has been through a lot of shit. And his body has the scars to prove it. The moment he takes off his shirt, the most obvious are the scars crisscrossing his back. Jamie has been whipped. Multiple times. To the bone. And the scars are really nasty. Less immediately noticeable, he's also got a scar from a bullet wound in his shoulder, and a scar on his chest where a brand was removed, and probably about a zillion other things because he's been in more battles and fights than he can even count, and people are constantly shooting at him, stabbing him, and trying to punch him.
Medietas: On arrival in Medietas, Jamie's left hand is bandaged and splinted, and at some point he will need to have it looked at by someone with medical knowledge. It's a mess, quite frankly. Not only has a nail been driven all the way through his hand, but every single bone has been shattered. It's going to cause him considerable pain and inconvenience, and at some point he's going to need physical therapy if he wants to regain his full range of movement. He's not going to be explaining how it happened, see the trigger warnings above.
